I wrote this song while attempting a hiatus on being creative and trying to focus on my career. The title is taken from a quote from the photographer Robert Frank. "The wind will blow the fire of pain across everyone in time", as soon as I read this quote I immediately felt compelled to create something regarding the subject.
This song is about allowing pain to wash over you and living in it. It isn't about masochism as much as it is about comfort, some of us find comfort and warmth in the fire of pain. This song is about embracing it, bleeding for it, praying for it, burning for it, getting lost in it, and accepting it.
I am a flawed and plagued human being dealing with my own problems. I hope in some way those who read this or listen to this find warmth in the fire of their pain.
lyrics
And in the dark I kneel on dust
Ashes rain down and cover my face
I grasp the soil to feel once more
The roots wrap around me and hold me in place
Life's fragile touch can't bring me home
In these words I lay my faith
I searched for you
I wait for you
I pray for you
I bled for you
I bleed for you
